Billiards tournament in memory of Vyacheslav Kozlov
On November 14, a billiards tournament dedicated to the memory of Vyacheslav Kozlov was held at the OLYMP Billiard Club in Ufa. The general management of the event was carried out by the Ufa city organization of disabled people "MIR". Disabled people from Ufa, Ufa district, districts and cities of the Republic of Bashkortostan, as well as disabled people from the Chelyabinsk region, who are at least 18 years old, were invited to participate in the competition.
About 30 people gathered to play and honor the memory of Vyacheslav Kozlov, a friend and co-magnon in billiards.
The opening of the tournament began with speeches by Vladimir Gorbunov, head of the Ufa City Organization for the Disabled, Vilya Gabdullin, Master of Sports of Russia of international class in kickboxing, and Vyacheslav Kozlov's family members, who spoke about his athletic activities and achievements.
- Vyacheslav took billiard sports very seriously, - says his wife Lilia. – He started playing billiards while still studying at the Aviation College. To pay for the game at the Officers' House, he handed over kefir bottles. At first, billiards was a hobby for Vyacheslav, but over time it acquired serious professional features. He began to train more often, and after he became ill in 2006, classes became daily. Vyacheslav took an active part in tournaments, where he won prizes. We have many of his cups, diplomas and medals at home. As a professional, he began to be involved in judging competitions, in which he was fair and attentive to people. He taught billiards not only to his friends, but also to his adopted son Emil, whom he loved as his own. Vyacheslav couldn't wait for his daughter Agatha to grow up to introduce her to this fascinating game.
He always dreamed of a house where he could put a billiard table, and when he woke up, he would train right behind it. In recent years, Vyacheslav has been studying at the Olympus and Atrium clubs, watching billiards championships and famous athletes' games on television. It wasn't just curiosity, Vyacheslav was learning from their experience. But he was not only interested in billiards, Vyacheslav was an erudite, highly cultured person: he read a lot, knew Alexander Filatov's poem "About Fedot Sagittarius" by heart, went to theaters and concerts, where he had many friends. Today, it is very touching for our family to see how many people know and remember Vyacheslav. Wil Gabdullin's proposal to make the Vyacheslav Kozlov Memorial tournament an annual sporting event was unexpected. Thanks to all the participants of the competition and its organizers from our whole family.
There was a burning candle on the table next to Vyacheslav's portrait and medals, cups and memorable gifts for the winners of the tournament were laid out. The tournament program included:
- Individual championship in Russian billiards (free pyramid) among the disabled with musculoskeletal system (POD).
- Individual championship in Russian billiards (free pyramid) among the disabled of other categories of disabilities (all other disabled people, except those with disabilities).
- POOL-8 Individual Billiards Championship – men.
- POOL-8 Individual Billiards Championship – women
The competition began after the draw, which determined the pairs of players. They had to play at least two (or three) games– up to two wins (2-0 or 2-1). The winners and prize-winners in individual competitions were determined according to the number of games won.
For four hours, there was a stubborn struggle for victory, but not everyone managed to win.
