On July 21, 2021, an open draughts tournament among people with disabilities in Ufa, dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the birth of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky, was held at the UGOI Mir Club-Museum.
Alexander Nevsky's most famous victories were his victory over the Swedes at the mouth of the Izhora River in 1240, where his nickname "Nevsky" came from, and over the Livonian Order on the ice of Lake Peipsi two years later. Alexander Yaroslavovich became famous as a commander who had not suffered a single defeat, and as a wise politician and ruler.
The long-awaited summer holidays are in full swing, so the children's group consisted of only 3 people, 9 adults came to the competition. The teams of the Military Academy of the Kalininsky district of Ufa and the Mir draughts club participated, as well as independent participants.
All participants were registered, and before the start of the games, they devoted several minutes to the biography of Alexander Nevsky. Before the end of the competition, the creative team of the Military Academy of the Kalininsky district of Ufa performed folk songs, read poems, and one participant told a couple of jokes. The referee of the tournament is international draughts master Mars Kimovich Fayzutdinov.

About the benefits of checkers. Checkers classes develop memory, thinking, and help improve intellectual abilities. Since checkers is a sedentary game, it is also worth paying attention to outdoor exercises and sports in life.
We invite you to take draughts classes every Wednesday at 12:00 at the address: Rossiyskaya str., 163/1, Koshkin House Club Museum, UGOI Mir.
Admission is free!
