Ufa hosted a sports festival dedicated to the International Day of the Disabled

On November 20, an open mass sports event among people with disabilities took place at the Sports Training Center of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The festival is timed to coincide with the International Day of the Disabled. It was attended by teams of organizations of disabled people in Ufa and the regions of the republic.

The event included competitions in sitting volleyball, Russian bench press, kettlebell lifting, table tennis, darts, arm wrestling, checkers and chess.

Dozens of teams from all over Bashkortostan take part in the event every year. Our task as organizers is to create an atmosphere of a sports festival where you can win medals and communicate with like–minded people," said Vladimir Gorbunov, head of the Ufa city Organization for the Disabled "MIR".

Raykhana Faylasupova participates in table tennis competitions. For 20 years she has been the captain of the Kalininsky district team, which has won many medals.

I am a multiple Russian wheelchair table tennis champion, and I have won medals at the national swimming Championships," she says. – After the accident, I was bedridden for five years. But work and love for sports and dancing helped me get back on my feet and live an active and fulfilling life.

The winners of the competitions in each type of program were awarded with medals and diplomas of the Ufa Administration for Physical Culture and Sports. The best teams were awarded cups.
